We start with 100% FSC-certified carbon neutral bamboo, primarily from the species neosinocalamus affinis, valued for its unique pulp characteristics which allow it to create a toilet paper of exceptional strength and softness. While most other brands, tree-based and tree-free alike, bleach their pulp to turn it white, PlantPaper uses no bleach or dyes of any kind.
Bamboo is the fastest-growing plant on earth, capable of growing up to a meter per day, and sequesters 2-3x more carbon than tree plantations of equivalent size.
